Get ready for your written exam

To ensure you can take your written exam, you need to prepare both yourself and your computer. There are technical requirements for your equipment, as well as academic and formal requirements for your exam submission. In addition, you must be registered for the exam.

Academic requirements for exams

During the exam, you’re expected to show what you know and what you’ve learned in the course. The course description explains the learning outcomes and the assessment method(s) for your subject.

In general, you must complete the assignment on your own, and always cite your sources if you’ve been inspired by or used someone else’s work.

Your exam answer must also meet the requirements stated in the exam question, as well as any additional guidelines in the course description or on your course page in Mitt UiB.

Some exams may have specific rules that differ from what you’re used to from secondary school,  or other courses, universities or colleges. Carefully review the rules for the specific exam you are about to take.

Checklist for Exams in UiBtreet

In UiBtreet, you’ll find a simple and practical checklist to help you stay organized. You can tick off each item as you complete it.

Check if you are registered for the exam in Studentweb

Check in Studentweb that you are registered for the exam in the course you’ll be taking.
Two weeks before a written on-campus exam, you’ll see which room you’ve been assigned. Exam venues have multiple floors, and you’ll find out which floor you’ll be seated on no later than three days before the exam.

The course description provides details about the exam format and other requirements. You can go directly to your course by entering the course name and code using this format: uib.no/emne/xxx123.

In Studentweb, you’ll also find information about:

  • Exam date, start time, location, duration, and candidate number
  • Any approved accommodations
  • Start and end times for home exams and exam submissions
  • For in-person exams, your start time will be 09:00 or 15:00. Please note that the start time may change up to 14 days before the exam date.

Prepare your computer

As a student, it’s your responsibility to make sure your computer works during the exam, so check that everything is in order before each exam. Read more about preparing your computer on Exam system (Inspera).

Check your account and password

  • Make sure your UiB account is active and that you remember your password. For example, you can log in to Mitt UiB or Inspera to check.
  • If you’ve forgotten your password, you can change it at UiBtilgang (external link). You must also change your password if you receive a notification to do so.
  • When your exam is in the exam system, log in using Feide, select UiB as your affiliation, and sign in with your UiB account.
