Piotr Serafin, Commissioner responsible for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, will present the Commission's Draft Budget for the year 2027 to the Members of the Committee on Budgets, thereby formally launching the annual budgetary procedure in line with Article 314 TFEU.

The Commission proposed to adopt the decision to mobilize the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF) following an application from Belgium relating to 803 displaced workers whose activity had ceased in Soliver NV, after the company was declared bankrupt in July 2025.

The hearing on "NRPPs and lessons from the RRF delivery model: long-term EU resilience and social cohesion in the context of demographic challenges" examines the budgetary implications of the proposed NRPPs under the 2028–2034 MFF, drawing on lessons from the RRF delivery model to assess how performance-based financing, conditionalities and flexibilities can support long-term investment predictability and address structural challenges such as demographic change and social cohesion.

The study "Investment needs identified in the Draghi and Letta reports and their implications for the EU budget" aims to address the Draghi and Letta reports, the investment needs they identify, and their implications for the EU budget.

The Committee on Budgets (BUDG) and the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) will hold an exchange of views with the European Economic and the Social Committee (EESC) and European Committee of the Regions (CoR) on establishing a budget expenditure tracking and performance framework and other horizontal rules for the Union programmes and activities, on 5 May 2026.
