 The over all theory is made into 2 chapters.
 These chapters give knowledge of electricity and its basics.
 The brief information about each chapter is given below.
Chapter-1: Safety
>> In this chapter the learner will learn about the safety and its importance in workplace. The topics like tools, PPE and
First Aid are part of safety. So at the end of this chapter the leaner must be able to follow the safety procedures for safe
working environment.
Chapter-2: Wiring Installation
>> In this chapter the learner will learn about the basics about electricity. Basic electrical parameters like Resistance,
Voltage, Current , Types of currents and their representation, simple circuit, series circuit, parallel circuit, Ohms law,
power circuit and its types etc are some of the major topics. So at the end of this chapter the leaner must be in a
position to apply this knowledge in electrical installations.

○ Types of Protection against Electrical Shock
Chapter (1): Safety, PPE and Electrical Tools

Safety
 Objectives : At the end of the session the learners should be able to
Define “Safety”
Identify “Hazard” and its “Risk” associated.
Define “Electrical shock”
Apply “Risk control measures”
State safety rules in electrical work place.

Safety
 Definition : The protection of people from Electrical / physical injury.
○ It refers to a workplace having an acceptable degree of freedom from risk (i.e)
Risk is reduced as low as reasonably practicable. WELFARE.
(or)
* The condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or
injury.
Examples: Cuts, crush, amputation, etc.

 Definition :
The condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury.

The protection of people from injury due to Electricity /
Chemical / Physical etc..

Safety Importance
Every one knows the importance of life so It is mandatory to avoid injury
to the people.

 Definition:-
- Hazard is anything in the workplace that has the potential to
harm people.
 Example:-

- Risk is the chance or probability that a person will be harmed
or experience an adverse health effect if exposed to a hazard.

 Definition:
 An unfortunate incident that happens
unexpectedly and unintentionally,
typically resulting in damage or injury

is without apparent or deliberate cause.

time
3.Wear the suitable PPE
during work
4. Test the circuit before
starting the work
5. Keep the workshop clean
and orderly
6. Always use the correct
tools for the job

Electrical Shock
 Definition:
“Electrical shock” Is injury caused by
electrical current passing though the
human body.
Note:-
An electric shock occurs only “when a
person comes into contact with
an electricity” directly or indirectly.
