Screenplay

Grace is preparing dinner for her husband Carter. She receives a call from him saying he won't be home for dinner. Grace is annoyed as this keeps happening and she feels alone. Carter gets angry during the call and abruptly ends it, stalking towards their house. The short film is titled "Sweet Insanity".

Sweet Insanity By Saffron Productions. INT. A PLAIN BATHROOM – NIGHT. GRACE stands in the bathroom facing the mirror, deep in thought. Her head is slightly tilted to the right, her arms by her side. Her face is emotionless. In the background a tap is dripping. she stands there for a couple of minutes not doing anything. Grace then comes out of her daze and begins to brush her wet hair. DING – NOTE (default) GRACE looks at her phone as a notification comes through. A text message from her husband CARTER. GRACE smiles as she unlocks her phone and replies to the message. GRACE (mumbles) I’ll put the dinner on. GRACE carries her phone in one hand and switches off the bathroom light with the other hand. She then walks downstairs and begins to prepare the dinner. the radio in the kitchen is playing: Nisi Dominus. GRACE now begins to chop the red pepper and pours a glass of red wine. After chopping the peppers, GRACE ignites the hob. GRACE’s phone then begins to ring. She picks it up and smiles sweetly before she answers. GRACE Hey Babe. (rewinding sound effect) EXT. BACKYARD OF GRACE’S HOUSE - NIGHT GRACE Hey Babe.
CARTER SMITH is standing outside in the backyard. In one hand holds the phone and the other is in a fist. He watching GRACE through the French doors. His eyes only focusing on GRACE as she prepares the dinner. CARTER (sharply) I won’t be home for dinner tonight. I’m sorry. GRACE (annoyed) Again?!? This is getting a joke now, Carter. You never make time for me anymore. CARTER (calmly) I’ll make it up to you. I promise. GRACE (annoyed) No. This isn’t good enough. I didn’t move across the country to be left alone. CARTER (angry) It was your own choice. You did this to yourself. I’ll be home when I’ll be home. CARTER then ends the phone call abruptly and stalks towards the house. Sweet Insanity appears on screen against a black background.
