THE LOVE-HATE-LEARNING STORY

We did not know what to expect in a
virtual simulation but Jeremy had come
prepared...
The story started when
we had our first meeting
with Jeremy...
AWKWARD
SILENCE IN
THIS ZOOM
CALL...SHOULD I
INTRODUCE MY
TEAM?
WILL DIRECTLY
JUMP INTO
TALKING WORK
SINCE JEREMY
IS THE CEO..
In our first meeting, we forgot to
introduce ourselves and have basic
salutations and greetings- Error/
Bloody nose here( red minus 10 & for
questions plus 30)
Positive- We ensured to ask questions
and could get the necessary data from
the stakeholder.
1st situation, meeting with Jeremy: -
Key Takeaway
1: Humanizing
Interactions
Bloody
Nose Meter
We were quite prepared for this meeting
but it did not go according to plan...
Then came our second
meeting...
I SHOULD GIVE
HIM INSTANT
SOLUTIONS...TRY
TO SAVE THIS
MEETING
OH GOSH...WHY IS
HE SO ANGRY? I
SHOULD DEFEND
MY TEAM...
The stakeholder was annoyed and
wanted to do nothing with our company
due to our lack of follow-ups and
unprofessionalism.
Didn’t give him room to vent and went
straight to apologizing and trying to
find a solution rather than giving him a
chance to express himself.

2nd situation, meeting with NASSCOM: -
Key Takeaway
1: Humanizing
Interactions
Bloody
Nose Meter
We felt fully prepared for this meeting and
did many mock sessions, prepared answers
for cross questioning...
Then we started
preparing for our final
board meeting...
WE NEED TO BE
ON THE SAME
PAGE AND HAVE
EACH OTHER'S
BACKS..
OUR SOLUTION
SHOULD BE
DISCUSSED
WITH
CONVICTION
AND WE SHOULD
HAVE FUN!
In all the meetings, it was reiterated
to not jump to finding a solution but
first asking questions to dissect the
problem. - Discuss | Involve all
stakeholders
Ask open-ended questions when you
want to give the stake holder room to
share what is on their mind.
Ask close ended questions to seek
information that is particular for a
particular scenario and help streamline
the discussion forward.
The more you ask questions, the more
you are on the same page with the
stakeholders and a step closer to
figuring out a collaborative solution.
First step is always to figure out the
question and then move on to finding
the answer, not the other way around
(Bloody nose approach taught us this)
3rd situation, meeting with the Board: -
Key Takeaway 2:
Curiosity & the art
of asking questions
Bloody
Nose Meter
The final chapter of our story might
have involved a bloody nose but the
pain made way for a lot of life
lessons...
MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS
RESULTED IN A TEAM WHO
PATCHED UP THEIR BLOODY
NOSES, REFLECTED ON OUR
SHORTCOMINGS AND
CELEBRATED TOGETHER!
