The Privacy Value Networks Project is a multi-university research project funded by £2 million to study how personal data is valued and devalued from the perspectives of all stakeholders. The project aims to account for both the costs and benefits of personal data for individuals, businesses, and society. It also seeks to understand discrepancies between how individuals value their own privacy and the "data shadows" created about them. Through case studies and interviews, the project examines issues around sharing personal financial and health information and seeks to develop models for assessing the wider impacts of data practices on networks of individuals.
