It consists of two non-touching plates that store equal but opposite charges. 2) The capacitance C of a system is defined as the ratio of the stored charge Q to the potential difference V between the plates. 3) For a parallel plate capacitor, the capacitance is given by C=ε0A/d, where ε0 is the permittivity of free space, A is the area of each plate, and d is the distance between the plates.
