Jesus was questioned about fasting
In Mark 2:18-22, Jesus responds to a question about why His disciples do not fast while others do, explaining that fasting is inappropriate in His presence. He emphasizes the importance of genuine spiritual expression over mere external rituals, stating that religious practices should emerge naturally from one's internal state. Jesus teaches that fasting can be valuable when rooted in sincere emotion, highlighting the need for authenticity in religious observances.
