J. CHOKKA RAODEVADULA LIFT IRRIGATION SCHEME
J.Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme contemplates for lifting of water from Godavari
River near Gangaram (V), Kannaigudem (M), Mulugu District of Telangana State to irrigate 2.49
Lakh Ha in drought prone upland areas of Hanumakonda, Warangal, Karimnagar, Jangaon, Yadadri,
Suryapet, Siddipet, Mahbubabad, Mulugu and Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Districts from an Elevation
+71 m. to +540 m by utilizing 38.16 TMC of water in 170 days.
The project is taken up in three phases i.e., Phase-I, II & III covers command area of 2,48,786 Ha
(6,14,750 Acres).
The individual Ayacut of Phase-I: 50,088 Ha (1,23,768 Acres), Phase-II: 78,172 Ha (1,93,164
Acres), Phase-III: 97,042 Ha (2,39,790 Acres) with Stabilization of about 23,484 Ha (58,028 Acres).

• 2) 4L-Distributory system under RFMC of R.S.Ghanpur Reservoir
• 3) Distributory system underTapaspally Reservoir
• 4) Distributory system under Ashwaropally and Chittakodur Reservoirs
The distributor system under RFMC of R.S Ghanpur Reservoir is completed.
and other distributory systems are in progress

Phase-III Consists of8 No of Pakages
• Proposed to lift 25.75 TMC of water through laying of pipe lines, excavation of Tunnels.
Main Components of works:-
• Construction of pump houses and formation of New reservoir and strengthening of
existing tanks and Distributory system covered to create an irrigation potential of
97042Ha.
• Package-I and II are completed.
• Package-III completed. Out of 3 motor , motor No.1 & 2 are commissioned and water is
being lifted to Dharmasagar Tank. The encashment of delivery main of Motor No.3 is in
progress and to be completed and commissioned by 31-07-2026.
• Package-IV (Out of 5 Pump House, 4 No of pump houses are commissioned and water
is being lifted to the online reservoirs and commissioning of one pump house at
Rajavaram (R.S.Ghanpur Reservoir) is in progress .
• The works under distrubutory system of Package- V, VI,VII and VIII are in progress.

Phase-I: The pressuremain for a length of 139.00 Kms with designed discharge of 10.00
Cumec to lift 5.18 TMC of water in 170 days. Head works such as Pump house, pipe line system
are completed and water is being lifted to irrigate the contemplated area, to fill the MI tanks in
the command area and Drinking water supply. The Distributory system under Phase-I
contemplated for an IP Ayacut of 50,088 Ha, Created IP Ayacut of 35,115 Ha and Utilised IP
Ayacut of 30,553 Ha.

3. NHAI Issue:
• Construction of a canal bridge by NHAI at Km 176.050 on the Mangalwarpet-Mallampalli section of NH-
365, involving crossing of the Right Main Canal at Km 7.370 under Package-V, Phase-III of the JCRDLIS
project to DoWR, RD & GR.
• Action taken: Estimate for construction of canal bridge was submitted to Regional office, NHAI Hyderabd
for Rs.1.93 Crores by the Project Director, PIU, Warangal on 18-04-2026.
• Ayacut affected beyond canal bridge is 3225.50 Ha(7970 Acres)

Land Acquisition:
Total Land required for the project is 13195 Ha. Out of which 12584 Ha has been acquired by 02/2026. The balance
Land to be acquired is 611Ha and it programmed to expedite by 12/2026. The balance of 611Ha is being
expedited which is at various stages.

Court Cases:
The are two number of Court Cases on Land Acquisition. The last hearing for the cases was 5th and 20th
October
2023 for Writ Petition No:21263/2017 and Writ Petition No:22929/2017 respectively which is affecting an ayacut
of 3642 Ha. As of now the next hearing date for these two cases was not listed by the court authorities. The
project authorities are continuously monitoring with AAG for resolving the matters.
