FireWire is a standard for connecting digital devices that provides fast transfer speeds of up to 800 Mbps. It allows up to 63 devices to connect to a bus in a daisy chain topology. FireWire provides both asynchronous and isochronous data transfer, making it well-suited for multimedia applications like video and audio. Newer versions of FireWire support increasingly faster transfer speeds and longer cable lengths.
