Fan-artism

Fanart is artwork created by fans in reference to fictional characters from movies, books, television shows or other media. It originated in the 1960s with science fiction fandom and the development of fan communities. Fanart varies widely in terms of professional quality, media used, subjects depicted, and is often shared on websites like Tumblr, DeviantArt, and Imgur. The Hugo Awards, which have been given since the 1950s, recognize achievement in science fiction and fantasy.
