• Protagonist: is the central character; the
main focus of the story
• Antagonist: is the enemy against the
main character, creating conflict and
tension
• Supporting Characters: is not the focus
of the storyline, but is important to the
plot/protagonist
• Ensemble: are usually on-stage
performers that do not play named
characters and have few or no spoken
lines or solo parts; rather, they sing and
dance in unison
• Character Arcs: is the evolution or
transformation of a character over the
course of a story
