RESEARCH WORK DONE
1.Metabolic Syndrome Management: A clinical study assessed the combined effect
of Arogyavardhini Vati and lifestyle modifications on metabolic syndrome. Seventy-
five patients were randomized into two groups: one receiving lifestyle modifications
alone and the other receiving both lifestyle modifications and AV for 8 weeks. The
group treated with AV exhibited significant improvements, including a 3.06%
reduction in waist circumference, an 18.03% decrease in serum triglycerides, and a
6.89% reduction in systolic blood pressure. These results suggest that AV, alongside
lifestyle changes, can effectively manage components of metabolic syndrome.
2. Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD): A case study explored the impact of
Arogyavardhini Vati combined with Phalatrikadi Kwatha on two patients with NAFLD
over a 12-week period. Both patients demonstrated normalization of elevated liver
enzymes and liver echogenicity by the end of the treatment, indicating potential
benefits of AV in managing NAFLD. The study reported no adverse effects,
highlighting the formulation's safety.
20.
3) Hepatoprotective Properties:An experimental study evaluated the hepatoprotective effects of
Arogyavardhini Rasa (a variant of AV) against paracetamol-induced liver damage in rats. The results
indicated that AV significantly prevented hepatotoxicity, as evidenced by improved liver function
markers and histopathological examinations. This supports the traditional use of AV in liver
disorders.
4) Obesity (Sthoulya) Management: A clinical trial investigated the efficacy of Arogyavardhini Vati
and Lekhaniya Mahakashaya in managing obesity. Twenty patients received these formulations
twice daily for two months. The study reported notable reductions in body weight and
improvements in associated metabolic parameters, suggesting the potential role of AV in weight
management.
5) Safety Evaluation: Concerns regarding the safety of metal-containing Ayurvedic formulations like
AV have prompted research into their toxicological profiles. A safety evaluation study indicated that,
when prepared and administered according to traditional guidelines, AV did not exhibit significant
adverse effects. However, the study emphasized the necessity for adherence to proper preparation
methods and dosages to ensure safety.
6) Physicochemical Analysis: Standardization of Ayurvedic formulations is crucial for ensuring
consistency and efficacy. A study focusing on the physicochemical analysis of Arogyavardhini Vati
found that the formulation met the standard parameters outlined in the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia
of India. The analysis validated the quality and authenticity of AV prepared using classical methods.
