Healthy Student Organizations

Healthy Students Organizations (HSOs) are the student orgs who value the well-being of their members. Purdue recognizes these organizations for the work they do to promote holistic well-being through the Steps to Leaps pillars. The initiative awards HSOs through:

  • Recognition: be recognized at the Student Life Honors Banquet for your HSO efforts
  • Organization Funds: the organization with the best submission of well-being efforts will win $500.
  • Discounts on Food: HSO's will receive a one time 15% discount at Purdue Food Company for group orders. This is great for callouts or organization events. Qualifying locations where the discount is applicable are below.

How can my organization become an HSO?

  1. Sign up for the HSO initiative and recieve reminders about submissions. - Click here to sign up.
  2. Submit at least three events by Feb. 13, 2026 - Click here to submit

Student organizations interested in being awarded HSO status must submit three events that promote the Steps to Leaps pillars among their members. Submissions will be reviewed and HSO status awarded in the spring semester each year. Review the HSO guidelines and rubric below to learn how to complete quality submissions.

HSO Guidelines and Submission Rubric

HSO Guidelines
  1. Participating student organizations must be a registered student organization through the Office of Student Activities and Organizations.
  2. The Student Organization must be in good standing with the university and/or any respective governing body.
  3. Student organizations must submit at least three examples of different events or initiatives that each promote a different Steps to Leaps pillar.
    1. Events must be created and approved in BoilerLink.
    2. Qualifying events or initiatives must be attended by at least 50% of the student organization members.
    3. Submissions must be completed on or before February 13, 2026.
    4. Submissions can include any event that took place since March 1, 2025.
    5. Qualifying submissions may not include any event or initiative related to a university sanction or remediation process.
  4. A students organization’s standing as an HSO is on an academic year basis. HSO status is awarded in the spring and remains in effect until the end of the following spring semester.
  5. Funds in the amount of $500 will be awarded to the organization with the strongest submissions. Funds will be awarded in the spring semester. Funds will only be deposited into a student org’s BOSO account. To be considered for award funds, the organization or its treasurer must:
    1. Meet with Boiler Financial Track (BFT), attend a BFT event, or host a BFT presentation.
