Links are the secret weapon most SEO professionals are getting WRONG. Link building in 2025 is not about chasing meaningless numbers and metrics (DA/DR) - it's about value and strategy. After building 1000+ links last year, here's what I think truly matters when it comes to link building: ↳ Do NOT just focus on DA/DR metrics. These can easily be manipulated. Instead, aim for sites/pages that are highly topically relevant, even if they have low DA/DR. ↳ Build links from sites with traffic - not just from search but also from other sources. This is a clear signal that these websites are not built to link out (and make money from it) but are legit, credible websites. ↳ Don't use guest posts JUST for links. Use them as an asset to rank for keywords, generate traffic, and drive leads to you. This can work beautifully, especially for high-ticket clients.  ↳ Aim for credible links - even if they are nofollow. Heck, even if they just mention your brand name, that's fine. Link building and brand building should go hand in hand. In fact, moving forward, I would say link building IS brand building. ↳ Build tools, calculators, templates, etc., and host them on your website. These can be amazing link magnets, and you can also use them in your link-building campaign. It's super easy to create these today, so what's your excuse? ↳ Create data stories around insights from data (public or proprietary). People love to link to these. Figure out what statistics/insights people are linking to in your industry, create one, and host it on your website. ↳ Excuse the cliche, but quality over quantity any day. You rather have 10 solid links than 100 shitty links from shitty websites that link out to any website under the sun. These links do more harm than good. Avoid. ↳ Target for mentions on social media sites/UGC like Reddit. Super helpful in influencing LLMs. It's okay if you don't get a link from these sites, just mentions are enough. Look, links will probably be far more crucial going into 2025 than ever before. But you can't build links like you did in 2015 and expect it to work. Think beyond just made-up metrics. Think like a marketer and not just an SEO specialist. Focus on building genuine relationships and value. The future of link-building is about quality, relevance, and strategic thinking. Is there anything else you would like to add to this list?

90% of "high DA backlinks" are worthless. DA 70 for $100? Likely PBN or link farm. Here are 9 link-building strategies that actually work in 2025. #1. Statistics Pages  - Write long-form articles on industry trends/stats  - Build internal/external links to rank on page 1  - Journalists link organically once you rank #2. ABC Backlink Swap Strategy  - Build relationships with blogs adjacent to your niche  - Link to partners in your guest posts on third-party sites  - Ask partners to do the same  - This way you can get 3-4 links per guest post instead of 1 #3. Value Guest Post Strategy  - Skip generic "I’ll write for you" pitches  - Find keywords prospect’s competitors rank for, but they don’t  - Offer quality post for that keyword in exchange for a link #4. PR Links via Featured/Qwoted  - Sign up for Featured/Qwoted to connect with journalists  - Create detailed profile, monitor daily queries  - Respond with unique, thoughtful insights (no AI garbage)  - One feature can yield links from major publications #5. Steal Competitor Backlinks  - Export competitor backlinks via Semrush  - Filter out web 2.0, directories and spam  - Categorize by type (PR, guest post, etc.) Outreach example: “Saw you featured [Tool]. We’re a [Use-case] tool with [features]. Free access for potential feature” #6. Inbound Link-Building  - Write “X Best Tools for [Purpose]” content  - Add 10+ internal links, 2-3 backlinks  - Reach page 2-3 on Google  - Once link-builders reach out to you to request features - offer one for a link in their next guest post #7. Expert Roundup Posts - Feature 10-15 industry experts in polished post - Use professional formatting, promote heavily - Notify contributors without asking for anything - Request link as a favor a month later #8. Podcast Link-Building  - Pitch as a guest on niche podcasts  - Most hosts include a backlink in show notes  - One appearance = quality link + exposure  - Repurpose the episode for your blog #9. Link Magnet Creation  - Build assets: original research, surveys, tools, guides  - Assets naturally attract backlinks  - Promote aggressively to the right audience

  • I've been building backlinks for 17 years, we'll sell over $4.5M of links this year, and I have NEVER seen Google reward authority and quality link signals like they are right now. 🔗 Yet most SEOs STILL buy links that do nothing… because Google neutralizes them. Here’s my exact SOP for picking links that actually increase rank, ROI and AI visibility: 1 - Ignore Metrics, Do Your Due Diligence Metrics are EASILY manipulated, even the “organic traffic” inside Ahrefs/SEMRush. Check link profiles manually. If the site doesn’t rank anything in your niche → the link is a pillow, not power. 2 - Page-Level ROI Test Before buying ANY link, ask: “How much can this link make me?” In high-ARPU niches, you can budget links by targeting specific money/supporting pages based on price vs potential return. 3 - Anchor Safety = SERP Reality Most SEOs choose anchors based on what they want. Google rewards what the SERP shows is safe. If the top 10 use: • Brand/URL → use brand/URL • Soft partials → use soft partials • UGC/parasites → stay conservative Match the consensus. Don’t fight it. And if competitors have ZERO direct links? Don’t force them unless the individual link has exceptional relevancy/trust. 4 - Outbound Link Neighbourhood Check If a site leaks outlinks to casinos, CBD, crypto, Viagra — and you’re NOT in those industries, your link is likely devalued. Google does track link neighbourhoods. Sit next to trash, you ending up smelling like trash... 5 - Indexation & Editorial Health Avoid sites that are: • Bleeding indexation • Losing keywords • Publishing AI slop • Pushing hundreds of posts with zero rankings Power sites GROW. Zombie sites DRAIN. 6 - Traffic Stability (6-18 Months) You don’t want a site that had traffic, you want one that KEEPS it. Look for: smooth growth, logical seasonality, no update cliffs, no sudden programmatic spikes. Stability = trust. Trust compounds. 7 - Internal Link Inclusion A link on a page with no internal links = weak. A link with supporting internals, topical hubs, and strong navigation delivers 3–10× more power. Context = equity. 8 - Avoid Orphan Links If the page has: • No internal links in or out • No social signals • No backlinks …it’s basically a paid nofollow. Orphan pages = orphan signals. 9 - The AI Visibility Test If you want to appear in AI Overviews/model citations, your links must sit inside authoritative, entity-rich context: - Editorial pages ✔ - Topical clusters ✔ - Structured data ✔ - Strong authorship signals ✔ - UGC authority domains ✔ In AI SEO, context around the link matters more than the link itself... In traditional SEO though, most SEOs don’t have a link building problem, they have a link selection problem. Google isn’t rewarding more links… Google is rewarding better signals. Fix what you buy → fix what you rank! That's it for this SOP! BUT, I'll be running a $250 PressWhizz LINK GIVEAWAY to anyone who LIKES+COMMENTS on this post 👇

I've been building links at Hunter since 2021. The biggest lesson? Link building is a relationship game disguised as a numbers game. 80% of our links come from partnerships. People we talk to regularly. People we share opportunities with, make introductions for, and collaborate on guest posts with. The remaining 20% comes from tactics like link insertions, listicle placements, and guest posting. But even those convert better when you know the person on the other side. Together with Ziemek Bućko, we created the most comprehensive guide we could on link building outreach. What's inside: → The 4 strategies worth your time (ranked by impact) → Real funnel numbers from our program (1.3% prospect-to-link rate) → Our 3-email sequence that drives 66% of replies → Email templates for every scenario → Who to contact and how to adjust your message by role → What to offer (and how to keep it fresh) No broken link building. No skyscraper technique. Those don't work anymore. Just the stuff that actually moves the needle. Full guide in the comments 👇

A client once told me: "We only want DA 90+ backlinks." “Anything lower is useless,” he said confidently. I smiled. “Can I show you something?” I asked. We looked at his last vendor’s work: 🛑 DA 92 site… but it was a subdomain of a free image hosting platform 🛑 DA 88 site… no traffic, no content, and 100% outbound links 🛑 DA 91 blog… hidden in a footer with 60 other random links The result? ❌ Zero authority passed ❌ Google didn’t even crawl most links ❌ No improvement in rankings — not even for brand keywords He looked puzzled. “But it’s high DA…” Exactly. 📌 DA is a number, not a strategy 📌 A DA 40 real site in your niche > DA 90 junkyard 📌 Relevance, placement, and context matter way more So next time someone says: “Only DA 90+” Ask them: ✔ Does it get traffic? ✔ Is it niche-relevant? ✔ Will a real human ever see that link? Because chasing “high DA” blindly… …is like buying a Ferrari shell with no engine. It looks powerful — but won’t take you anywhere. Build links that drive results. Not just numbers. #linkedinconnection

And a shiny report to show the client. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡: 🔺 Those links did nothing for authority. 🔺 And worse—they attracted penalties. That’s when I changed the way I thought about links. Now, I treat link building like business development. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: ✅ Build relationships with relevant publishers, not just bloggers ✅ Secure guest posts that actually drive referral traffic ✅ Use digital PR to get mentioned in top-tier outlets ✅ Contribute value to niche communities (and earn backlinks naturally) ✅ Focus on content that earns links passively over time ✅ Use HARO and Qwoted for visibility in media ✅ Partner with non-competing businesses for co-branded content ✅ Monitor mentions using Brand24 or Ahrefs Alerts ✅ Use backlinks to strengthen topical authority in key clusters ✅ Track link ROI—not just DR, but traffic, leads, and visibility Link building isn’t about gaming Google. It’s about building brand equity, one relationship at a time. Are you building links for traffic, trust, or just to check a box? Let’s talk.

I’m focusing on 3 key strategies for 2025. AI and LLMs are changing the game. Here’s how I’m staying ahead. 01) Contributor Content & E-E-A-T AI and LLMs prioritise authoritative brands and websites. Use contributor content to show expertise and credibility. ◦ Work with industry experts to create strong content. ◦ Highlight contributors’ credentials to show real-world experience. ◦ Use expert insights to position brands as trusted voices. 02) Brand-Focused Link Building Branded links will be more impactful than traditional backlinks. Shift to branded, high-value link acquisition. ◦ Focus on branded link inserts tied to your client’s identity. ◦ Get listed in “top” or “best” lists for authority and traffic. ◦ Position clients as thought leaders through research and data-led PR. ◦ Use authoritative content to attract high-quality backlinks. 03) Interactive Content & Tools LLMs and AI can’t replace interactive tools. Develop and promote interactive assets for visibility. ◦ Create resources like calculators, quizzes, or tools for user needs. ◦ Optimise these tools to rank where AI answers fall short. ◦ Position interactive content as a unique value for users and search engines. These strategies will keep our clients at Position Digital ahead in 2025. Which strategies are you bringing into 2025?

We've built 2655 backlinks for clients in the past 2 years. But 95% of link building campaigns still fail miserably. After analyzing 500+ failed campaigns, I found the 7 deadly mistakes that kill results (and how to fix them): 🚨 MISTAKE #1: Mass Email Templates ❌ "Hi [Name], I found a broken link on your site..." This fails because: - Obviously templated - Zero personalization - Focuses on YOUR needs, not theirs ✅ Instead: Research their content, reference specific articles, offer value first 🚨 MISTAKE #2: Asking for Links Immediately ❌ First email = link request Why this kills your chances: - No relationship building - Comes across as spam - Zero trust established ✅ Instead: Share their content first, engage with posts, build relationship over weeks 🚨 MISTAKE #3: Low-Quality "Linkable Assets" ❌ Creating mediocre content as bait This fails because: - Not genuinely valuable - No unique insights - Others did it better ✅ Instead: Original research, comprehensive guides with new data, interactive tools 🚨 MISTAKE #4: Targeting Irrelevant Websites ❌ Spray and pray approach Why this doesn't work: - No topical relevance - Wrong audience - Low-quality links hurt you ✅ Instead: Target niche-relevant sites, focus on audience overlap, prioritize relevance over metrics 🚨 MISTAKE #5: No Follow-Up Strategy ❌ Send one email and give up This fails because: - People are busy - First email often missed - No persistence = no results ✅ Instead: 3-4 follow-ups spaced weeks apart, different angles each time, add value with each email 🚨 MISTAKE #6: Chasing Domain Authority Only ❌ High DA sites regardless of relevance Why this backfires: - DA ≠ link value Irrelevant links don't help rankings - Quality beats quantity every time ✅ Instead: Focus on topical authority, target communities, prioritize traffic 🚨 MISTAKE #7: Weak Value Proposition ❌ "This would be great for your readers" This fails because: - Vague, unspecific benefits - No clear audience value - Still focuses on what YOU want Here's the framework that gets 43% response rates: 📋 THE APOLLO DIGITAL LINK BUILDING FRAMEWORK 📍 PHASE 1: Research - Identify target websites and authors - Study their content and audience - Find genuine connection points The key: Know them before you pitch them 🤝 PHASE 2: Relationship Building - Share and comment on their content - Engage on social media - Build recognition and familiarity Be helpful, not pitchy 💡 PHASE 3: Value Creation - Create genuinely valuable content - Include original research or insights - Make it perfectly fit their audience If it's not valuable to their readers, it won't work 📧 PHASE 4: Outreach - Personalized, value-focused emails - Reference previous interactions - Clear, specific value proposition They should remember you before you ask 🔄 PHASE 5: Follow-Up - Strategic follow-ups with new value - Different angles each approach - Patience and persistence Most links come from follow-up #3 or #4

Google doesn't reward links. It rewards trust. And trust comes from how you build those links, not just where. Most link building campaigns fail. Not because of bad outreach. Not because of poor content. But because of one thing: strategy misalignment. Let me explain. You don’t need more links. You need the right links placed at the right time on the right pages. Here’s where advanced SEOs win: 1. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲-𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗣. → What type of content is ranking? → What link profiles do those pages have? → What’s the average DR, link velocity, and topical relevance? They don’t guess, they analyze. 2. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵. → Blog posts alone won’t cut it. → They invest in stats pages, free tools, data hubs, and interactive content. → Because quality links need something worth linking to. 3. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗥, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. → Real traffic. → Regional alignment. → Niche relevance. → Contextual mentions, not footer dumps or author bios. 4. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. → Earning links is just step one. → Distributing that link equity across strategic pages? That’s what moves rankings. 5. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀. → Not every page gets links. → But every link should help revenue-driving pages, through clever interlinking. Link building is no longer a numbers game. It’s a strategic, full-funnel growth lever. And if you’re still buying DR 80 links without checking traffic, keywords, or relevance... You're not building SEO. You’re buying vanity. —————————————————— Want to build rankings, boost authority, and grow your brand with strategic link building? I’m Muhammad Abdullah, and I help: → SEO agencies → SaaS founders → Digital marketers → E-commerce brands → Businesses of all niches …scale with authority-driven SEO and high-quality link building that delivers real results.

I've built 100,000+ links for SaaS companies. The future isn't just links. It's earning attention 👇 And I still love traditional link building. When you do it right, it's one of the most reliable ways to grow search traffic. We still do it every day, and it's still the core of our business. But I'm watching something fascinating happen in our industry. As traditional link building gets easier and more automated (or, if you're more cynical, spammier), the a lot of the more sophisticated companies are adding something new to their arsenal: Digital PR. What is it exactly? Digital PR means creating content that's genuinely newsworthy - studies, research, data, expert insights - and pitching it to journalists at major publications. When they cover your content, they link back to you as the source. Think about publications like BBC, The Guardian, and Forbes. You can't just buy your way in. These titans of media care about one thing: attention. They will ONLY work with you if you have something they think their readers will find valuable — and that’s exactly where the magic is: digital PR is extremely difficult, and there’s a really, really high barrier of entry to even make it work. Because of that, it’s not only more valuable, from an SEO perspective, it’s also more sustainable. Even Google's Search Advocate, John Mueller, has publicly endorsed digital PR. Why? Because it (usually) requires: • Original research and data • Compelling narratives • Real journalist relationships • Newsworthy angles that editors care about Here's what makes digital PR so powerful: when you earn attention from major publications, you get more than just a link. • Millions of real, targeted readers • Instant brand credibility • Qualified referral traffic • Long-term industry authority That's why we're going all-in on BOTH strategies. Traditional link building provides the consistent foundation for growth. But digital PR might be where the biggest opportunities are emerging. Instead of choosing between them, we're helping clients double down on both. // Question for my SEO friends: are you incorporating digital PR into your link building strategy yet? #seo #marketing #digital
