Interparlamentariske møder

The European Union - Türkiye Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) held its 81st meeting, on 27 and 28 November 2024, under the co-chairmanship of Mr İsmail Emrah KARAYEL (Chair of the Delegation of the Parliament of Türkiye) and Mr Emmanouil KEFALOGIANNIS (Chair of the European Parliament Delegation).

The Agenda included the following items:

• EU-Türkiye relations and state of play of the accession negotiations;
• EU and Türkiye: Customs Union - visa liberalisation - migration - freedom of expression - rule of law.

The JPC also held an exchange of views with:

• H.E. János BÓKA, Minister for European Union Affairs of Hungary, on behalf of the Presidency-in-Office of the Council of the European Union
• Mr Franciso Joaquín GAZTELU MEZQUIRIZ, Director for Neighbourhood South and Türkiye, DG NEAR, on behalf of the European Commission (remotely from Brussels)
• Ms Baiba TAVARESA, Acting Deputy Managing Director Europe, on behalf of the European External Action Service
• H.E. Ambassador Faruk KAYMAKCI, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Türkiye to the EU, on behalf of the government of the Republic of Türkiye
