Inițiativa cetățenească europeană permite unui grup de un milion de cetățeni din cel puțin un sfert din statele membre să solicite Comisiei prezentarea unei propuneri legislative în domenii care intră în domeniul său de competență. Organizatorii inițiativelor de succes sunt invitați să-și prezinte inițiativa, în cadrul unei audieri publice în Parlamentul European, comisiei legislative competente pentru chestiunea care face obiectul inițiativei lor. Three European Parliament committees, IMCO, JURI and PETI, held a public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative “Stop Destroying Videogames.” The hearing follows the initiative’s submission on 26 January 2026 and gave its organisers the chance to present their proposal. Members of Parliament questioned the European Commission about actions it may take in response.

The LIBE Committee hosted a Public Hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) calling for a "Ban on conversion practices in the European Union". The hearing took place with the involvement of the Committee on Petitions (PETI) and the participation of the Committee on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights (FEMM).
