On Tuesday 2 June 2026 at 15h00 during the AGRI committee meeting the Policy Department for Regional Development, Agriculture and Fisheries will present a new study entitled "The Bioeconomy in the Agriculture of the Future: Its role in Promoting Farms’ Economic Sustainability".

On 4 May 2026, the AGRI Members will hold an exchange of views with Álvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Following a recent exchange of views with the European Commission on the impact of the Middle East crisis on the European agricultural sector, today’s discussion will offer a more global perspective on the consequences for food prices and fertilisers.

The Commission proposal on Amending Regulation (EU) 2018/848 as regards certain production, labelling and certification rules and certain rules on trade with third countries has the aim to ensure that consumers are able to make informed choices when purchasing products from third countries whose organic production and control systems have been recognised as equivalent to those of the Union.
