    Message:
I am using WP Forms Lite and enabled email notifications on July 7th to receive an email for every new form entry. I tested the feature on July 7th, and it worked perfectly—I received the email with the submitted data.

However, on July 20th, I received the weekly summary email stating that a new entry had been submitted during the last week (so between July 13th and 19th I suppose), but I never received the notification email for that specific entry. To check if the issue persisted, I manually submitted another test entry today (July 23rd) from an incognito window (not logged into WordPress), and this time, the notification email was successfully delivered.

    Questions:

    1. Why wasn’t the notification email sent for the entry submitted between July 13th and 19th?
    2. How can I retrieve the data from that missing entry?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi @csimon1 ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The weekly summary only reports the number of form submissions received during the week. It doesn’t confirm whether the notification email for a particular submission was successfully delivered.

Since your test notifications on July 7 and July 23 were received successfully, it sounds like notifications are generally working. It’s possible that the notification for the submission between July 13 and 19 wasn’t delivered due to a temporary email delivery issue.

As WPForms Lite doesn’t store form entries in the database, unfortunately we’re not able to recover the data from that submission if the notification email wasn’t received.

The issue is likely because emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent directly from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they may be filtered or rejected by the receiving mail server.

To help prevent email delivery issues like this, we recommend configuring an SMTP plugin so that your emails are sent as authenticated. We have a guide with a list of recommended SMTP options and setup tutorials here: A Complete Guide to WP Mail SMTP Mailers

Additionally, I recommend reaching out to your hosting provider to check if they store undelivered emails. Many hosts maintain email logs or backups, which can be a great way to recover any undelivered form submissions.

    Thanks,

    Hi @csimon1 ,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
