A more sustainable and energy-efficient mobility system can be achieved through multimodal transport, which optimally combines various modes of transport by leveraging their respective strengths. The European Commission hence promotes a policy of multimodality, focusing on better integration of transport modes and ensuring interoperability across all levels of the transport system. Efficient logistics services are essential to ensure that transport chains meet user needs. The Commission works closely with stakeholders to support the development of a favourable framework for the logistics services within the EU.
