The Commission adopts the RESourceEU Action Plan to secure critical raw materials, protect industry from geopolitical and price shocks, support strategic projects in Europe and abroad, and diversify supply chains with like minded international partners.

The Strategic Framework for a Competitive and Sustainable EU Bioeconomy aims to use renewable biological resources from land and sea and provide alternatives to critical raw materials. This will help the EU will move towards a more circular, decarbonised economy.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is in Johannesburg today, together with President of the European Council António Costa, to meet with President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa. The meeting takes place ahead of the G20 Summit in South Africa and the EU-African Union Summit in Angola.
