I've recently attempted to upgrade from a quite old version of the library 😅, and surfaced the bugs reported in #400 #401 and #402 through higher-level tests of the loader: https://github.com/lace/lacecore/blob/main/lacecore/_obj/test_loader.py

I'm hoping these reports might be clear enough to surface the problems in the code.

Though in the likely event that these need to be tested via Python, I wanted to offer to help with a test rig. Would it be helpful to have some functional tests written in NumPy and Python that could be run via CI in this repository?
