Summary
After uninstalling Windows Apps (e.g. Bing Search, Xbox, Copilot) in Winhance, the cards remain visible in the Software & Apps list even though the packages are no longer installed. This is confusing — especially on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, where many catalog apps were never installed in the first place.
Current behavior
- The Windows Apps tab shows a fixed catalog of all known apps.
- Uninstalled / never-installed items stay in the list (checkbox empty / not marked installed).
- Winhance reports
Successfully removed N apps, and ChangeHistory records the removals, but the UI still shows those cards.
- On LTSC, the BloatRemoval script often logs
Packages not found: ... for Bing/Xbox/Copilot-style package names, yet the UI still lists them as if they were removable targets the user just failed to delete.
Expected behavior
- After a successful uninstall (or when detection confirms the package is not installed), the item should disappear from the visible list (or at least be hideable via a toggle such as "Show only installed apps").
- Optionally keep a separate filter / toggle:
- Show only installed (default for cleanup workflows)
- Show all catalog apps (for reinstall / discovery)
Why this matters
Users interpret "still listed" as "uninstall failed". On LTSC / debloated systems this is especially common, because many catalog entries were never present.
Suggested implementation (minimal)
In WindowsAppsViewModel:
- Extend
FilterItem / WindowsAppsFiltered / CapabilitiesFiltered / OptionalFeaturesFiltered to exclude !IsInstalled when a preference like HideUninstalledApps is enabled.
- Persist the preference in
UserPreferences.json.
- Add a UI toggle near the existing "Select All Installed / Not Installed" checkboxes.
- Refresh the filter after
CheckInstallationStatusAsync / uninstall completion (NotifyCardViewProperties already exists).
Also consider applying the same option to External Apps if desired, but Windows Apps is the higher-priority case for debloat workflows.
Environment
- Winhance
v26.06.12
- OS: Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 25H2 (Build 26200)
- Repro: Software & Apps → select Bing Search / Xbox / Copilot → Remove → list still shows the cards (empty checkbox)
Related
- Existing "Select All Installed / Select All Not Installed" shows that installation status is already tracked; what's missing is a visibility filter, not detection alone.
