Brian Kerr

Interaction designer at Google. Two decades in consumer hardware. Independent work at the intersection of agentic AI, physical computing, and interaction design.

I design and prototype AI-native systems where interfaces, agents, and physical hardware meet, drawing on two decades of interaction design at consumer hardware companies including Google, deep physical-computing practice, and shipped agentic AI projects; currently focused on how ambient physical devices earn and communicate trust when driven by autonomous agents.

  • The Context Window — Curated tech news across AI, hardware, software, design, and science
  • Homeostat — Privacy-first anomaly detection with selective AI reasoning
  • Sky Oracle — Local sky imagery summarized for Homeostat

Interactive experiments

  • synth.cards — Browser-based modular synthesizer. Twelve module types, real patch cables, AudioWorklet audio at 44.1 kHz. Source
  • Every Espresso — Interactive anatomy of espresso extraction; every shot is a 25-second chemistry experiment. Radial canvas visualization with a 3D puck cross-section and a narrated tour. Source
  • Fractals & Chaos — GPU-accelerated fractal explorer: Mandelbrot, Julia, Burning Ship, Newton. Real-time WebGL shaders with a 3D height map and guided tour. Source
  • Ocean Depths — Interactive visualization of the ocean's five pelagic zones. Light, thermoclines, pressure, bioluminescence, and the SOFAR channel with a narrated tour. Source
