Leonardo Andreatta de Alcantara

Engineering Manager with nearly two decades of software engineering experience.

I spent most of my career building software systems. Today, I apply the same systems thinking to people, processes and engineering organizations.

I enjoy solving problems that sit at the intersection of technology, organizational design and decision making.

What I care about

  • Reducing organizational friction
  • Making implicit systems visible
  • Improving engineering decision making
  • Turning chaotic processes into repeatable outcomes
  • Building sustainable engineering organizations

Current initiatives

Graphus

Making software architecture visible through source code analysis and knowledge extraction.

AI-assisted support systems

Building systems that reduce engineering interruptions and improve support escalation processes.

Personal Knowledge Architecture

Experimenting with systems that transform high-entropy information into durable patterns and actionable insights.

Writing about

  • Engineering organizations as systems
  • Organizational friction
  • Hidden knowledge and decision making
  • Quality engineering beyond test automation
  • Sustainable engineering practices
  • Technology adoption in engineering teams

Philosophy

Technology amplifies existing systems. It rarely fixes broken ones.

I prefer sustainable improvements over disruptive transformations and evidence over hype.

I believe engineering organizations are socio-technical systems and the same principles we apply to software can be applied to people, processes and knowledge.
