3.4Home-based provision

Last update: 6 August 2025

Ηome-based publicly regulated ECEC provision operated on  a pilot basis in 6 out of 332 municipalities. The project entailed the financial assistance of mainly, working parents, or single parents and generally of the family with provision of caretaking of infants and toddlers in their own house or at the carer's/nurser's house. The "Neighbourhood Nannies" project laid was down by l. 4837/2021. Co-funded by the "Human Resources, Social Cohesion" programme of the PA programme period 2014-2020 and 2021-2027 it aimed to assist parents by covering part of the carer's fees for infants from 2 months to 2.5 years old.

As of June 2025 the programme runs throughout the country initiating the full implementation of the programme. (https://www.espa.gr/el/Pages/ProclamationsFS.aspx?item=6836).  Full-time working parents receive a voucher of 500 euro, while part-time working or unemployed parents receive 300 euro. Along with the geographical expansion the governement is also looking into the possibility of further raising the voucher amounts. Interested professionals will have to visit the link https://ntantades.gov.gr and register in  the caretaker's registry.
