L'iniziativa dei cittadini europei consente a un milione di cittadini di almeno un quarto degli Stati membri dell'UE di invitare la Commissione europea a presentare proposte di atti legislativi nei settori di sua competenza. Gli organizzatori delle iniziative andate a buon fine sono invitati al Parlamento europeo per presentare l'iniziativa in un'audizione pubblica dinanzi alla commissione legislativa competente per la questione. Three European Parliament committees, IMCO, JURI and PETI, held a public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative “Stop Destroying Videogames.” The hearing follows the initiative’s submission on 26 January 2026 and gave its organisers the chance to present their proposal. Members of Parliament questioned the European Commission about actions it may take in response.
The LIBE Committee hosted a Public Hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) calling for a "Ban on conversion practices in the European Union". The hearing took place with the involvement of the Committee on Petitions (PETI) and the participation of the Committee on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights (FEMM).
On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the organisers of the European Citizens' Initiative will present their initiative at a public hearing held by the FEMM committee with involvement of PETI and with the participation of the DEVE, SANT and LIBE committees in presence of Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality; Preparedness and Crisis Management.
The Committee on Petitions will hold a public hearing on the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) "Cohesion policy for the equality of the regions and sustainability of the regional cultures" with the participation of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the Committee on Culture and Education the lead Committee on Regional Development on 25 June 2025, from 14:30-17:30
