Devices Crashing

In the past 3 months, both my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my Apple Watch series 8 have stopped working due to “hardware issues” (I selected the wrong device when posting). Each time I talk to Apple support, they say that it will be more expensive to get it fixed than to get a new one. I have no idea why my devices keep crashing and it’s getting very frustrating. Has anyone else experienced something like this? What did you do?

Over a number of years we have utilized about 15 iPhones (multiple family members), one Apple Watch, one Apple TV, and maybe a dozen Macs (iMacs, Macbook Airs, Macbook Pros). We had two iPhones replaced (at no cost) due to problems discovered while under warranty or AppleCare, and one Apple TV replaced under warranty. So I think these problems are uncommon. That said, with AppleCare+ you are covered for both defective hardware as well as most accidental damage or loss, even if caused by the user. So I second KiltedTim's suggestion.
