Marion Dumay

Marion Dumay is a researcher at the French telecommunications operator Orange.

Her fascination with computer networks and telecommunications began around the age of ten when the Internet arrived in France.

With an engineering degree in computer science, she started her career as a network solutions integrator, working on LAN and Wi-Fi deployments. Seeking new challenges, she pursued a Ph.D. in a field that would later become the Internet of Things (IoT), then known as Wireless Sensor Networks.

After earning her doctorate, Marion continued her research on IoT at Orange, first as a postdoctoral researcher and now as a permanent scientist. Her work has focused on communication protocols for connected objects, including protocols for LPWANs (LoRaWAN) and cellular IoT networks (NB-IoT, LTE-M), with a particular emphasis on energy consumption of transmissions.

This research led her quite naturally to engage with the SCHC ecosystem within the IETF, initially as an observer, then as a contributor, and currently as Chair of the Working Group.
