One of our favourite apps for learning another language, the process is genuinely fun. Whatâs more, all those languages and games are available for free!
Effective way of learning

If you are looking for a way to learn a language non-textbook style, this is the app for you. With fun layout it makes learning like an addictive game. The lessons are both understandable and effective, and though it can be discouraging when you run out of hearts, it is really great that it is not required to watch an advertisement to regain hearts, but rather take a lesson that focuses on your weak points. The tips are incredibly helpful and understandable, and the stories are fun to read. I would definitely recommend this app! One thing that I would consider adding is a few more languages, especially African ones such as Afrikaans, Zulu ect. I myself speak some of these languages, but would love to learn some more, to become part of our countryâs rich diversity. Obviously it is understandable that courses aren't created overnight, but scrolling through many of the reviews I have noticed this to be a rather common query. I do however have one critism and that is that once you start a course it cannot be deleted. This can be a bit of a bother, and though I totally understand that when a course is deleted your progress would go with it, it would be nice if that option was at least on the table. All in all, this is an excellent app, and has really helped me make progress in many languages. Thank you so much for bringing us such a user-friendly language learning app!

It teaches you how to speak the language choose how to spell it and if you get it wrong you get five hearts to try again and if you get it wrong like a real teacher it wonât shout at you it will say itâs fine you have four hearts left try again Duolingo The logo is so cute and all the characters in it this will help you straightaway you will learn the language so fast and just like some other games you can go on streaks get coins and diamonds and you can create your character see the game see the game board where you are and see how many XP I am so far and 200 ð¤¯because of how fun and good this game is Duolingo is the best downloaded if it doesnât work for you thatâs fine you can always delete it and if you wanted again you donât need to start from the beginning it will always bring you back to the same start and how many diamonds and everything you have so you can just carry on and you can make more than one language like Iâm learning Italian and at the same time I could also be learning Hindi Japanese Korean everything so I would suggest downloading Duolingo you will have the best time ever

Iâve been using this app for nearly seven years on and off and absolutely love its easy use. However the reason it does not make a five star rating comes with the recent updates. Previously, after completing an exercise one felt like progress was being made and that you were in fact learning and getting somewhere, but with the more recent updates that require the repetition of the same exercises not just multiple times (as this would make sense when learning a new language) but in increasing amounts before one can progress. For example one might learn to count to 10 in the base exercise over 5 lessons, which is reasonable, but in the next level, the same numbers are required to be identified through a mixture of the same previous exercises but over 10 lessons. This continues to increase over 5 levels until the final level requires the same exercises to be undertaken over 30 repetitive lessons. By this point one is frustrated and disheartened. If this magnitude of incrementation in repetition is needed, I do not know as Iâm not a linguist but from a user experience having tried the app previously and in more modern updates, it has become disheartening which is not the goal of the app. However I still recommend using the app as the interface is simple and easy to follow. Just be prepared to work a while to fully clear skills. You can progress on one level being cleared but if, like me, you would like to fully lay a skill to rest and wish to properly complete it, it may be frustrating...
