I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the TikTok application currently distributed through the Apple App Store.TikTokâs search system is displaying sexually explicit suggestions and inappropriate results even when neutral or unrelated keywords are entered. This behavior is deeply concerning because TikTok is widely used by children and teenagers.According to Appleâs App Store Review Guidelines, apps distributed on the App Store must ensure user safety and protect minors from harmful or explicit content. In particular:- Guideline 1.1 (Objectionable Content) states that apps should not include pornographic material or explicit sexual content.- Guideline 1.2 (User-Generated Content) requires platforms with user-generated content to implement effective moderation, filtering systems, and mechanisms to prevent inappropriate material from being surfaced to users.When TikTokâs own search system suggests or leads users toward explicit content, it raises serious concerns about whether the platform is meeting these requirements and adequately protecting minors.Given these concerns, I respectfully request that Apple conduct a thorough review of TikTokâs compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. If TikTok cannot effectively prevent sexually explicit content from appearing in search suggestions or results, Apple should consider stronger enforcement measures, including the possible suspension or removal of the application from the App Store until the issue is properly addressed.Ensuring a safe digital environmentâespecially for childrenâshould remain a core responsibility of the App Store ecosystem.Thank you for your attention to this matter.
