The Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, Mounir Satouri, has issued the following statement.

The Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) will host an interparliamentary committee meeting on the role of member states and the EU in supporting global accountability mechanisms.

Prominent MEPs reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the protection and promotion of media freedom, pluralism and the safety of journalists worldwide.

The Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, Mounir Satouri, issued the following statement.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and President of the Parliament of Moldova Igor Grosu will open a conference on global democracy support on Wednesday 18 March.

On 24 February, the chairs of the respective committees in the European Parliament and in Verkhovna Rada responsible for human rights issued a joint statement.

Parliament adopted its annual report on the state of human rights and democracy in the world on Wednesday, calling on the EU to make better use of its resources to defend them.

Turkish authorities should, MEPs say, urgently reverse the country’s democratic backsliding, obey their constitutional and international obligations and release political prisoners.

A delegation from the Subcommittee on Human Rights will travel to Ankara and Istanbul from 7 to 9 January, to discuss the human rights situation and the state of the rule of law.
