Semester and summer abroad in Stockholm and Copenhagen
66 years as a non-profit study abroad institution
Since 1959, we’ve provided innovative study abroad experiences in Scandinavia for undergraduate students. Today, we continue to lead in global education, inspiring intercultural exchange and a global mindset.

Freedom to shape your academic path
With hundreds of courses across disciplines, our Course Finder helps you build a study abroad experience that fits your academic needs and interests.
Studying abroad changes lives. It opens minds, builds global perspectives, and shapes futures.
At DIS, we’re proud to support half of all students through scholarships. But with growing cuts to higher education funding, too many students now risk losing the chance to go abroad.
You can make a difference.
Your support — no matter the size — helps keep the door open for future students to experience the world through education.

Cadence (@smith_college_ois) always knew she wanted to study abroad. It wasn`t a matter of where, but how.
Concerned about the cost, Cadence leaned on her community to find financial aid opportunities. After discussions with former students, her study abroad office, and her faculty, she found the aid she needed to make her summer abroad possible.
Through DIS scholarships and the Gilman scholarship, Cadence spent three weeks in Stockholm studying criminology and psychology, and three weeks in Copenhagen studying food, migration, and belonging.

Natalie (she/her, @vanderbiltstudyabroad) wasn’t sure how to spend the summer after sophomore year. She explored internships, jobs, and research opportunities but ultimately decided to study abroad.
Though a self-proclaimed homebody, Natalie was excited by the chance to step outside her comfort zone, take classes that aligned with her interests, and make Scandinavia her “home base.”
