Learning Support Teams (LST) pilot project

Learning Support Teams (LST) provide direct on-site support to teachers, specialists and school administrators (primary and lower secondary) in dealing with the heterogeneity of pupils and in their goal of establishing a sustainable and inclusive school culture. This support can include lesson planning, implementation and evaluation. Support is provided to help them make the best use of their existing resources. The four-year pilot project started in summer 2025.

Mental health of pupils

A study on the mental health and well-being of pupils is currently being conducted at all public schools in grades 6 to 9 on behalf of the Office of Education. In addition to the pupils, parents, guardians and school staff are also being surveyed. The aim is to discuss the mental health and well-being of pupils and the role that school conditions play in this context.

Maturity reform – WEGM.LI

The Liechtenstein Gymnasium is launching WEGM.LI, a project that aims to ensure the renewed recognition of the Maturity by the Swiss Maturity Commission and to promote the further development of the school in a targeted manner. This project marks a significant step in ensuring the quality and future of secondary school education (Gymnasium) in Liechtenstein. A preparatory phase in the 2024/25 school year will be followed by a three-year implementation period, during which key topics will be intensively addressed and tested in practice. The focus will be on revising the regulations and the framework curriculum, further developing the school's profile and the options available to pupils, and specifically strengthening the Maturaarbeit or Facharbeit.

Law on the Employment of Teaching and School Assistance Staff

In 2024, the former Teachers' Service Conditions Law was revised and amended to become the Law on the Employment of Teaching and School Assistance Staff (Teaching Staff Law). This is due in particular to the fact that the scope of application has been extended and school assistants (including classroom assistants and language assistants) are now also included in the Law.

2023

Launching of Checks FL

The Checks FL enable independent assessments at the end of each cycle of Curriculum 21, respectively Liechtensteiner Lehrplan (i.e. at the end of grade 2 at primary level and at the end of grades 6 and 9 at lower secondary level). The check results show the individual performance of pupils and - at the end of lower secondary level - how well they meet school requirements for vocational apprenticeships.

In May and June 2023, the Checks FL will be carried out nationwide for the first time. They will test the subjects German and mathematics at primary level. For the 2nd classes, a 30-minute adaptive online test is available for each competence area.
