How do I pay my PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) fees?

  • Step 1

    Enter WIPO Pay

Pay and view your pending payments with our streamlined payment system.
Note: We do not accept payment by cash or check. Payments to the International Bureau as Receiving Office are accepted in USD, CHF and EUR.
  • Step 2

Add unpaid items to your basket

    1. Find your items in the Unpaid Items section — Can’t find your items in the Unpaid Items section? Click on “Search Payment” in the top menu and enter the Item number (EPAY-XXX1-X1XX) you received from us by email.
    2. Compose your basket — Have several fees to pay? Add multiple items to the basket (if they are in the same currency) pay for them all at once.
Note: In “Search payment” enter the Item number (EPAY-XXX1-X1XX), NOT the Basket ID (EPMT-XXXX-XXXX).
  • Step 3

Select your payment method and proceed with payment

WIPO Pay offers you six (6) different payment methods to pay PCT fees.

    • Online with WIPO Pay; or
    • By providing your Current Account at WIPO number when completing relevant PCT forms.

Extra verification may be needed. As part of a new security process to protect your payments (PSD2), your bank or card issuer may ask for extra confirmation to complete your payment. This extra layer of security makes your online card transactions safer and reduces the risk of fraud.

To meet Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements, we will prompt your bank’s "3D Secure" identity verification when using a credit or debit card. This may include

    • a one-time passcode sent via SMS,
    • a password, or
    • fingerprint or face recognition.

If you’re asked to verify your identity, just follow the instructions from your bank. If you run into any issues, please contact your bank or card issuer for help.
