DocuSign makes date formatting a nightmare
We use DocuSign for important legal contracts, and it’s shocking that they don’t allow a simple date format choice when sending an envelope. Instead, the system locks the format to the account’s regional settings, which means documents can end up in DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY depending on the locale.
This isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a serious compliance risk. A contract dated 05/06/2025 could mean May 6th or June 5th, depending on where the signer is located. The only workaround is to void the entire envelope and resend after changing your settings, wasting time and creating confusion for clients.
DocuSign clearly has the ability to fix this (there’s already a date format dropdown in settings), but they refuse to expose it where it matters — at send time. It feels intentional, and for a platform that charges premium prices, it’s unacceptable.
If you care about precision and legal clarity, be warned: DocuSign makes something as basic as a date far harder than it should be.
