About NIFU
For over fifty years, NIFU has offered action- and decision-oriented research to clients in the public and private sector. Our employees have a high professional and methodological competence and the majority have a doctorate. Reports and results from NIFU's research should give clients a solid basis for developing knowledge policy and making decisions. The institute is an independent and non-profit foundation.
The research covers the entire knowledge policy - from primary and secondary school, via higher education to research, innovation and competence development in working life. The aim is to be the foremost Norwegian research environment, and among the leading in the Nordic region, to develop a knowledge base for education, innovation and research policy.
The research is characterized by scientific quality, strong sector expertise and good insight into knowledge policy issues. The institute is organized as a foundation, and our deliveries are independent of policy and ownership interests.
The institute contributes to the social debate and disseminates research results in both the media and through its own channels and events.
