The best time to act is before a crisis becomes a catastrophe. Investing in early action helps communities prepare for shocks before they escalate, protecting lives, livelihoods and local economies. Anticipatory action makes this possible by leveraging forecasts to save time, money and lives. It can help prevent food shortages, reduce inflation and lessen the long-term impacts of disasters on families already facing vulnerability. Evidence shows that every $1 invested in anticipatory action can generate up to $7 in avoided losses and additional benefits. When we act early, we don't just respond to crises. We help communities stay one step ahead of them.

Meet Sofía Rodríguez 👋💙, a nutritionist whose humanitarian journey has taken her across Guatemala, from Nutrition Brigades in remote communities to supporting national programmes with WFP. Sofía tells us about the experiences that shaped her career, the communities that taught her some of her most important lessons, and why humanitarian work starts with listening, understanding people's realities and walking alongside them. 📅 Every month, Pathway to WFP dives into the career paths of WFP professionals from diverse fields. 📍 #Yemen: WFP is scaling up its emergency response, so far reaching over 50,000 newly displaced people in Aden. More support is urgently needed as fighting forces thousands of families from their homes.

Families fleeing escalating violence in Yemen are arriving in #Djibouti with urgent humanitarian needs. WFP is supporting the Government-led response with emergency food assistance, while preparing for more arrivals in the days ahead.

💡 Innovation is helping WFP reach communities cut off by disaster in #Nepal. One month after devastating floods and landslides swept through parts of the country, WFP continues to support affected communities with food assistance and logistics support. In areas where roads and bridges have been washed away, humanitarian cargo drones are helping deliver critical supplies to communities that would otherwise be difficult to reach. 🚁 What once took hours or was simply impossible can now be delivered safely and efficiently, helping ensure assistance reaches people when they need it most. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eBTrV6Cn Hear from WFP Nepal's Nathaniel Glidden 👇

Hunger is not just a humanitarian issue. It is a threat to stability, prosperity, and peace. If we want a more peaceful and prosperous world, food security must be part of the solution. No nation can thrive if its people are hungry. #UNGA

In a single day of #UNGA, you can meet more people than a year of visiting capitals. Partners from Japan to Bolivia, all in one building. But what stays with me isn't the speeches or the rooms where everyone already agrees, it's the tough conversations with counterparts who don't see eye to eye but share a goal. That's what an operational agency needs: a place where people who disagree can still land on practical, workable solutions. This week I had over 100 meetings with governments, private sector partners, media, academia and financial institutions. The reality is that we are facing a perfect storm of hunger. Conflict, climate and a triple choke-point in global trade are pushing up food and fuel prices. Governments are now also shrinking support for humanitarian operations, so funding is inadequate, uneven and unpredictable. In some places, disregard for international law puts our teams and our operations at risk. Access and safety are no longer guaranteed. The gap between needs and resources keeps widening. My goal this week was to bring frontline voices into the UNGA halls, and take back practical steps to them. WFP works in the hardest to reach places in the world, and we're facing real obstacles there. So this week was about untying knots - political solutions, access, resources, results. That takes everyone at the table - governments for diplomacy, private sector for better tools across AI, supply chains and beyond. There's real willingness here and a broad agreement that no one should go to bed hungry. The question is how we turn that into action: new ways of working, new solutions to close the gap, real movement on the diplomatic front, and the resources to fund these operations. To all the governments, partners and people I met this week: ending hunger is solidarity. It's a humanitarian imperative. And increasingly, it's a matter of global security. Let's turn this week's speeches and meetings into action, the kind our children will thank us for.

💡 From innovation to supply chains, delivering at scale requires collaboration. Great conversation between WFP Goodwill Ambassador Andrew Zimmern and Corinne Fleischer on supply chains, innovation and the partnerships that help WFP reach more people facing hunger around the world. 💙 Thank you, Andrew for being a passionate advocate and helping shine a light on the solutions that make humanitarian action possible. #UNGA
