The review platform for Flutter frontend teams

About us

Widgetbook - the collaboration platform for Flutter frontend teams. Widgetbook's open source package allows Flutter developers to catalogue their widgets in one central library - similar to Storybook.js. With Widgetbook Cloud, this library can easily be shared with designers, product owners and clients to simplify review processes.

What does the future of UI development in Flutter look like? Andrew Brogdon from the Flutter team and I sat down at flutterCon USA to discuss how AI coding agents are using Widgetbook for self-healing UI feedback loops and how major enterprises are creating custom design systems with Widgetbook. Thanks to Andrew and the production team for this interview!! 💙 If you're at Flutter & Friends today and would like to learn more about the self-healing UI feedback loop, check out my talk or come by our booth!

Most cross-platform frameworks borrow their pixels. Flutter draws its own. That’s the case our CEO, David DeRemer, made in a conversation with Lucas Josefiak, founder of Widgetbook, and it’s worth returning to whenever the Flutter versus React Native debate flares up. Native-bridge frameworks route the interface through each platform’s own widgets. Which sounds sensible until you remember that every time Apple or Google changes their design language, someone owns that update. Android’s shifted across its last ten versions alone. That’s not a framework decision. That’s a recurring line item. Flutter ships its own rendering engine inside the app. Build it once, and it renders the same way on iOS, Android, web, desktop, even embedded devices — this year and years from now. It’s also the argument for building a custom design system on Flutter instead of chasing Material or Cupertino parity. Native components hand you the platform’s opinion of what your product should look like. A design system you own keeps that opinion yours.

What does it take to build a Flutter design system for a solution that powers 120,000+ households? For 1KOMMA5°, the answer isn't just great UI – it's a design system that developers and AI coding agents can understand. The result? ✅ Zero visual bugs ⏱️ 20% faster development 🤖 AI agents that generate production-ready Flutter UI 💡 A single source of truth between Figma and Flutter At #FlutterTechSummit, Anton Borries (1KOMMA5°) and Lucas Josefiak (Widgetbook) shared how they built "Harmonized" – their custom design system and how Widgetbook helps automate design reviews, keep every component in sync, and make AI-generated code actually follow the design system. 🎥 Watch the recording: https://lnkd.in/dxzuEHtj #FlutterDev #DesignSystems #AI

🎙️ New episode of #BuildToSucceed live! This time with Lucas Josefiak, CEO and co-founder of Widgetbook. As we get closer to see #Material and #Cupertino decouple from the core Flutter Dev toolkit, we got into something we think the #Flutter community doesn't talk about enough: design systems aren't optional once you're serious about shipping a product long-term. They're how you maintain a consistent experience across every platform Flutter runs on: mobile, web, desktop, embedded, smartwatches, car dashboards. A few highlights from the conversation: 🎨 Widgetbook mirrors Figma's concepts (variants → use cases, variables → theme data, component properties → knobs) so designers and developers share the same language ✂️ One customer cut development time by 50% by catching visual bugs at the PR level instead of in QA 🕵️♀️ The concept of "visual pull requests" — requiring a designer to review UI changes alongside the code review — seems obvious in hindsight, yet almost nobody does it 🖼️ Flutter's decision to move Material and Cupertino out of core reinforces this: teams building production apps should own their design language Go checkout the episode link in the comments! #Flutter #DesignSystems #Widgetbook #FlutterDev #BuildToSucceed

Scale your Flutter apps with Widgetbook ⚙📖 ✅ Sync Figma tokens to Flutter ✅ Build components in isolation ✅ Catch visual bugs before production

How 1KOMMA5° builds their Custom Flutter Design System with Widgetbook✨ We're excited to share how 1KOMMA5°—a Cleantech unicorn serving 120,000+ households across 7 countries—uses Widgetbook to build and maintain their custom design system, Harmonized. 🤔 Challenge: As 1KOMMA5º rapidly scaled their digital products, they needed to harmonize designer-developer collaboration, prevent visual bugs, and deliver a consistent experience across their Flutter apps. Solution: 🎯 Built their design system with atomic design principles in Figma 🎯 Converted Figma tokens to Flutter ThemeExtensions 🎯 Developed and cataloged all components in Widgetbook 🎯 Implemented automated design reviews with Widgetbook Cloud Results: ✅ Zero visual bugs shipped to production ✅ 20% time savings for designers and developers ✅ Seamless alignment between design and development ✅ Structured review process that catches issues before merge My favorite quote from Anton Borries, Senior Software Engineer at 1KOMMA5º, and Flutter & Dart GDE: "Widgetbook provides us with a process to build and maintain our design system, prevent visual bugs, and align design and development. We notice that our designers and developers save 20% of their time through this process." We are SO happy to help their amazing team save 20% of their time every day, so they can help the world get to clean and free energy even faster💜💚 Link to the case study in the first comment⬇️ #Flutter

  • Zero visual bugs. 20% faster delivery. Perfect design-developer alignment.✨🚀 These are the results 1KOMMA5° achieves every day building their custom Flutter design system and apps with Widgetbook. When the team told us that "our designers and developers save 20% of their time", it hit different. That's not just productivity gains. In the case of 1KOMMA5°, that means more capacity to accelerate the energy transition. We are proud to play a small part in their clean energy mission!💜💚 Find the link to the case study in Lucas Josefiak's post below⬇️

  • 🎯 On every #MigrationToFlutter roadmap, you should place Widgetbook. 😉 Check out the full “Migration to Flutter” guide by LeanCode and see how Widgetbook fits into the journey: https://lnkd.in/ecdU8DW5 We’re proud to be featured in Step 15: Design System of the Architectural & Technical Foundations chapter. A solid design system is more than a visual toolkit – it’s the glue that keeps teams consistent and brands recognizable across platforms. Large organizations often face UI drift: small, inconsistent design decisions that slowly erode quality. That’s why every migration should include tools that help you build and maintain high-quality UIs like Widgetbook. Download the guide and follow the roadmap. ✅ #FlutterDev #AppDevelopment #DesignSystem #UIUX #MobileDevelopment
