There used to be a billboard on Highway 101 that said, “Stop Hiring Humans.” It definitely got attention. I think it got the message exactly wrong. I talked about that, and many other things, last week with Caroline Fairchild I’ve said this before. AI can help us move incredibly fast. But if you don’t trust the output, speed isn’t an advantage. You may just be getting to the wrong answer sooner. We still need human judgment, context, and input. That’s a big part of what we’re trying to do with Today’s SurveyMonkey. Help people move faster without losing the human input that makes the answer worth trusting. Caroline, thank you for the thoughtful conversation. The internet looked a little different in 1999... So did SurveyMonkey. Our CEO Eric Johnson sat down with Caroline Fairchild to talk about where we started, how far we’ve come, and why humans are still at the center of Today’s SurveyMonkey. Listen to the full conversation: https://bit.ly/4yo0Bit

The more AI, the more humans matter. Ahead of our Today's SurveyMonkey launch, we hosted execs, decision-makers, researchers, and industry leaders from LinkedIn, Zoom, ClickUp, Glassdoor, Lyft, CrowdStrike, Google, UserGems 💎, and BRM in San Francisco for good food and a very real conversation about how we embrace more AI without losing the human part. This is Today’s SurveyMonkey. Getting people talking, asking better questions, and listening to what they have to say. Thanks to everyone for pulling up a chair and figuring it out with us.

Moving fast is only an advantage when you know you’re moving in the right direction. In her recent keynote, our Chief Product Officer, Meera Vaidyanathan, shared the thinking behind Today’s SurveyMonkey—and the gap we’re working to close as the pace of business keeps accelerating. This is the idea behind Today’s SurveyMonkey. The more AI changes how we work, the more important it becomes to keep listening to the humans on the other side of it. Thank you Caroline Fairchild for helping us bring that conversation to life.
Last week, I hosted a dinner for SurveyMonkey and the premise was pretty simple: humans still matter. We should listen to them. It sounds obvious, but most companies are still missing that mark. For a few hours, executives across industries put away their phones and got curious. They asked the people sitting next to them how AI adoption is *really* going inside their companies, instead of how their companies say it's going. I sat next to my former colleague and now Zoom's Global Head of Communications and Reputation Fenot Tekle, and we talked about what gets lost when your writing stops sounding like a person. In SurveyMonkey's own research, 83% of small business owners say customer feedback — you know, the actual people who buy your product — is useful for making decisions. Only 54% collect it more than once or twice a year. That 29-point gap is one reason SurveyMonkey announced today a complete redesign of their product experience, built around three needs: getting human feedback faster with AI, understanding what that feedback actually means, and making continuous listening part of everyday business. At dinner, I asked everyone to turn to the person next to them and ask something they would never type into a chatbot. I encourage you to do the same this week!
