The future of textile is circular! While textiles are essential to modern life and support 1.3 million jobs in the EU, the industry is also a major source of waste, pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Every European throws away kilograms of textiles each year, much of which ends up in landfill or incineration. The CORDIS Results Pack on the future of textiles, in its second, extended edition, showcases 9 EU-funded projects helping to shift the sector towards circularity, including solutions for eco-design, reuse, fibre-to-fibre recycling, digital traceability and new circular business models. 📌 Glaukos project 📌 HEREWEAR 📌 New Cotton Project 📌 my-fi 📌 SCIRT Project 📌 TRICK Project 📌 tExtended 📌 T-REX Project | Textile Recycling Excellence 📌 #CISUTAC Explore the CORDIS Results Pack on the Future of Textiles: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eFiihu7E #TextileWaste #Recycling #CircularTextileValueChain

Happy #InternationalArchivesDay this Tuesday, the main day of #IAW2026!
Where would history be without archives? Accurate records are vital. At the Publications Office of the European Union, we provide analysts, researchers ... future generations with the basis to understand the EU project and the work of the EU institutions. Take, for example, the oldest document in our archives. It is a collection of speeches made by Jean Monnet at the inauguration of the High Authority (10/08/52) and at the opening session of the Assembly (11/09/52). These speeches capture the forward-looking spirit of post-war Europe, a continent recovering from conflict and searching for lasting peace. Jean Monnet presents European integration as both a practical economic project and a bold political vision, centred on reconciliation. Over seventy years later, Monnet’s arguments for cooperation over rivalry, economic interdependence, and strong common institutions remain strikingly relevant. They remind us that European unity always was a way to secure peace, prosperity and stability for future generations. Proud to play our part in preserving and sharing this memory for all, and in building the European project every day. The speeches are highly recommended, for all: https://lnkd.in/e2q_62gA #JeanMonnet #EUhistory #InternationalArchivesDay #InternationalArchivesWeek #IAW2026 Jean-Marc Lieberherr Monnet Institut Jean Monnet, Anna Mitelman, Christiane Keutgens, Pavel Černoch, Matthieu Kleinschmager Jacques Delors Institute Patrizia Isabelle Nanz Johanna Mair Fabrizio Tassinari, Roeland Scholtalbers, Julen Kenk Fernández Michael Kaeding Esteban González Pons Sharon Macdonald, Blandine Smilansky, Constanze Itzel, Eléonore Duchêne (she/her) Annelies van Rijen Harry Verwayen, Adina Ciocoiu, Makx Dekkers, Antoine Isaac Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen Carol R. What does the future hold for VocBench? This was the key discussion at the latest meeting of our VocBench Suite Community in Luxembourg on 4 and 5 June. What is VocBench? It’s an open-source, web-based, multilingual, collaborative development platform for managing ontologies, thesauri, lexicons and generic Resource Description Framework (RDF) datasets. The platform, which we manage and develop at the Publications Office of the European Union, is widely used in the EU institutions, and beyond, to edit controlled vocabularies and to maintain semantic assets. Through its tools, VocBench helps to organise and disseminate online information efficiently. It also helps to make IT systems across institutions and countries interoperable. The event gathered experts, practitioners, developers and representatives from EU and national institutions working on controlled vocabularies, semantic technologies, metadata and publishing workflows. They exchanged on recent developments in VocBench, possible new features, improvements to the tools and workflows, and the longer-term sustainability of the platform. The conclusion? A clear path was set to advance the tools and ultimately strengthen the interoperability of IT systems across organisations and borders. Thanks to all participants for their contributions, ideas and dedication! Looking forward to continuing the discussions ... and to our next meeting! Europe’s air quality is improving but pollution remains nevertheless the biggest environmental health risk across the continent. 🌍 According to the 2026 European Environment Agency report, more than 9 in 10 Europeans are still exposed to pollution levels above World Health Organization guidelines. Fine particles, ground-level ozone and traffic-related pollution continue to affect health and the quality of life. The good news? Many regions are already moving closer to the EU’s stricter 2030 air quality targets, showing that cleaner air is possible with the right action. Cleaner transport, lower emissions and smarter urban policies mean healthier lives and fewer pollution-related illnesses! 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gDPPETMQ
