Europe attracts and fosters top talent. 🔬 The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded €705 million in Starting Grants to 421 early-career researchers across Europe. This gives them the opportunity to pursue bold ideas, build their own teams, and shape the future of science. We'll also welcome 21 researchers, currently based in the US and Canada, who will move to Europe to carry out their projects. This is almost double last year's number. Our research community is already world-class. We're investing to make it even stronger! Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eicD3Tbh

Did you know that a chemical used in the past to make bread dough more elastic is also found in yoga mats. It's called azodicarbonamide... And, incidentally, it is still in burger buns in some non-EU countries. But, in 2009, it was banned in Europe. And since then… nothing dramatic happened. No burger crisis. No sudden change in taste. Just the same sandwiches, even more tasty without it. And a Regulation doing its job in the background while you ordered your lunch. — Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008: Food additives. EU ban on azodicarbonamide. In force since 20 January 2009
