Statement by DARP Chair MEP Reinhold Lopatka on the recent Iranian strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait
As Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula, I condemn the Iranian strikes carried out against Bahrain and Kuwait yesterday. Reports of attacks on civilian infrastructure, together with the loss of life and injuries suffered by civilians, are deeply troubling and highlight once more the human cost of escalating tensions in the region.
My thoughts are with all those affected, and I express my solidarity with the people of Bahrain and Kuwait. Respect for sovereignty, international law, and the protection of civilians must remain paramount.
At this critical moment, I urge all parties to exercise restraint and to recommit to dialogue and diplomacy in the interest of regional stability and lasting peace.
