Fameâs trappings define the corridos starâs sprawling sophomore album. The impact made by Tito Double P on música mexicana cannot be overstated. Between his work as a songwriting sniper for global genre star Peso Pluma and his own incredible ascent to the spotlight as a solo star in his own right, the Culiacán-raised artist has helped to set new high standards for the contemporary corridos scene. Now, after following up his chart-topping 2024 debut, INCÃMODO, with the subsequent yearâs Christmas gift DINASTÃAâa joint LP with the aforementioned Plumaâhe returns galvanised by success for his official sophomore set. Far from a mere victory lap, ACOMODO reflects the attitude of an artist who has reached great heights in a relatively short time. (Also of note, the deliberate lack of features hereâparticularly in the wake of the highly collaborative INCÃMODOâspeaks volumes as to where Tito stands in this competitively crowded genre.) Swiftly setting a thematic tone, the swaggering opener âME VALE Vâ evokes a winnerâs lifestyle marked by unlimited indulgences. That continues with the rebellious escapades and gallivanting of âPANA RABBITâ, the pursuit of pleasure now paramount. To that end, he revels in a roguish image on the semi-romantic âCOCOâ and the unapologetically curt âROSONESâ. As much as these indulgent narratives serve to excite, the comedown from such fabulously sybaritic highs is compelling in its own way. The impudent âAY MUJERâ finds our hero hungover and pleading his case to a lover whoâs likely done with his antics, while the even more galling âPASE Y PASEâ adds a resentfulness to the outsized confidence. That transmutes into genuine heartbreak on the remorseful âPOR SUS BESOSâ, something Tito frequently and masterfully wrestles with on the albumâs mood-shifting back half via songs like âYAMAMEâ.
