On 3 June 2026, the European Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, and the Committee of the Regions hosted a joint event on the future of Europe’s Single Market. Bringing together policymakers, businesses, and civil society representatives, the discussion focused on how to make the EU market stronger, fairer, and more competitive while delivering practical benefits for citizens and companies.
On 2 June, the European Parliament’s Internal Market Committee discussed progress on the EU Single Market Strategy with Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné, one year after the strategy was launched. The discussion looked at what has been achieved so far, what barriers still exist, and what new challenges have emerged.
On 6 May 2026, IMCO Members of the European Parliament discussed the safety of artificial intelligence systems that could pose serious security risks, including systems such as Anthropic’s Mythos. The discussion focused on how existing EU legislation, including how the Cyber Security Act and the AI Act, apply in practice. As AI systems become more powerful, ensuring they are safe and properly regulated is important for protecting people, businesses, and society.
